One of the key factor for succeeding is retail inventory management and control. Keeping only the exact inventory level is crucial. Too much or too little stock translate either in too much money tied in inventory or loss of sales.

Posterita handles easily extremely well inventory management related issues.

This is how:

Real time and web based inventory tracking

Real time inventory tracking can prevent excess or under stock and allows retailers to monitor constantly stock on hand and in transit.

Instant and web access to information means that retailer can control closely inventories for all stores from one single location, resulting in a significant improvement of inventory control.

Automated stock transfer from one store to another

Stock can be transferred easily and quickly from one branch to another directly on the system. This removes the need for creation of paper work.

Multiple warehouses management

Posterita engine is designed to handle as many warehouses as a retailer might need and track the inventory level for each one of them. A store can be configured with multiple warehouses for reserve stock, damaged goods,... Naturally, the retailer can filter data based on warehouses, product characteristics, and location.

Posterita retail business intelligence engine can use these different elements to track and control inventories efficiently and effectively.

Product matrix:

Any product can be defined in the system according to a product matrix of:
• attributes sets
• units of measures, and
• product categories

These unique characteristics can be combined in as many ways as the retailer can think of. For example, say that a retailer wants to base his next t-shirt collection on what he sold last year. The retailer can query Posterita to know how many t-shirts he sold during that year according to a set of different product characteristics such as models, designs, colors, size curve etc… Just name it and the product can be configured.

When this product matrix is properly configured, the retailer can also use any attributes to produce any reports. The same product matrix can also be used to keep in the same system as many different items as one could think jeans, shirts, ladies clothes, shoes, water sold by bottle, by dozens, by pack, etc…

Full traceability of inventory movements:

The architecture of Posterita engine was designed in such a way that every single operation is recorded within Posterita’s database. No information is ever replaced, erased or even lost. Any modification of any figures is recorded.

Translated in terms of retail inventory management, this means that Posterita can calculate for any given time period the theoretical numbers of any items that a store should have. For example, say that a retailer on the 1st April 2010 queries Posterita to know how did its stock for say iphones varies from the 1st September 2009 to the 30th September 2009 for say its store in San diego

Posterita sophisticated business intelligence report engine will calculate it as follow:

Opening stock on the 1st September 2009 was 150, sold during the month 100, returned and exchanged 10, new deliveries from Apple was 50, outbound store transfer 10, inbound store transfer was 0. So the closing stock on the 30thSeptember 2009 was +150 -100+10+50-10+0 = 110 Opening stock on the 1st September 2009 was 150, sold during the month 100, returned and exchanged 10, new deliveries from Apple was 50, outbound store transfer 10, inbound store transfer was 0. So the closing stock on the 30thSeptember 2009 was +150 -100+10+50-10+0 = 110 iphone units is the closing stock on the 30th September.

All these information about stock movement can be displayed in Posterita inventory reports.
